The Admirable American for this week is a European-American, male, essayist, naturalist and glaciologist. The Scottish immigrant John Muir founded the Sierra Club in 1892, and worked to preserve nature in the United States. His efforts saved Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks earning him the nickname “Father of the National Parks.”
Do you love reading and photography? Do you have a creative mind? Then try out the library's Book Bento contest! Choose a favorite book and objects to represent it, take a photo, and then share your photo with Mr. Blum. All entries will have their work featured on the library digital boards and will be entered in a drawing to win a book prize in May. Anyone is welcome to participate! See Mrs. Blum at the circulation desk in the library for more instructions and examples.
Join your friends at the Winter Formal, A Night in the Bayou, this Saturday night from 7-10 pm in the Main Gym. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or in person during your lunch hour in the main AP. Reach out to Mr. Lee or Mrs. Haab with questions.
Hononegah Special Olympics will be opening this year's Kevin Bell Memorial Classic at 6:00 pm on Friday night in the main gym. Special Olympics athletes, unified partners, and Hononegah teachers will compete against each other in a basketball competition to open the event. The teachers vs. senior students game will begin at 7:00 pm. Come cheer on all of the athletes and your teachers. Cost is $1 to enter with the funds going towards the Special Olympics. There will also be a halftime lightning shooting contest with prizes during the second game.
Baseball tryouts begin Monday, March 2. Now is the time to sign-up for tryouts on Snap via the Hononegah website. Players are reminded they must have signed up on the website and have a current physical on file at school to participate in tryouts. Specific tryout times will be in the announcements next week. Any questions, see Coach Broderick in the PE office.
Your ACT tip of the week comes from the science test. When analyzing a graph, be sure to identify what is being displayed, the units that are being used, and the axis labels. After you understand what the graph shows, answer the accompanying questions.

Tabletop Club will meet Monday, February 23rd in the upper AP. No experience is necessary, and we are always welcoming new members!
