Students, if you are undecided about the career you want to pursue after college or even high school,  please join us today, 2/5, for the first Workplace Readiness Meet & Greet event of the year.  Learn about our region's career pathways and tremendous growth opportunities.  20 companies and organizations will be on hand throughout the day, and you might even walk away with a job shadow or internship opportunity to help inform your post-secondary plan! Some of you will attend during one of your classes during the day; if not, come directly to the Student Commons at the start of your lunch period to speak with companies.

Last Saturday both the varsity and JV girls bowling team finished 2nd in their last regular season tournament at Belvidere.  On varsity Addison Brien finished 3rd averaging 214 while Samantha Kallstrom averaged 207 good for 6th.  For JV, Kahlee Birnbaum had the high game with 219 while averaging 170 for the day and finished 5th overall.  Meanwhile Kyliee Brooks averaged 166 and finished 6th.

The Admirable American for this week is a second generation, Japanese-American female, community organizer and author. Yuri Kochiyama spent World War II imprisoned by the United States without a trial because of her ancestry. After internment she married a Japanese American veteran of the highly decorated and segregated 442nd, moved to Harlem, and worked in CORE for equality. Her speaking and writing demanded Americans to “Remember Pearl Harbor” in order to reject racial and ethnic profiling as mistakes of the past. Before she died in 2014 she called on people to “Build bridges, not walls.”

A special shout-out to all students who had zero tardies for the month of January Thank you for showing up on time and ready to learn each day. Your ACT tip of the week comes from the math section. Use your scratch paper wisely as you solve problems. Writing down your thinking can help you determine where you've made a mistake if you didn't calculate the correct answer the first time.
