The Admirable American for this week is a structural engineer, and architect. Muslim, Bangladeshi-American, male, Fazlur Rahman Khan built the world’s tallest buildings of the 20th century as the “father of tubular designs.” Studying as a Fulbright scholar, Khan earned his Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Working at the cutting edge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Khan pioneered “tube” structural systems. He applied tube structure innovations to build Chicago’s John Hancock and Sears Tower buildings. Kahn’s Sears Tower, which has been renamed the Willis Tower, was the world’s tallest until 1998.

Getting excited for Halloween?  Love a good ghost story?  Try the library's two sentence horror story writing contest!  Ask your English teacher for the form.  All submissions are due by the end of the day, Wednesday, October 29.  The top three entries will receive a book of their choice and Halloween candy!

Boys Bowling starts Monday, October 27th. Practice is from 4:45 - 5:15, Mondays  - Thursdays at Viking Lanes.  Registration is online at the Hononegah Athletics Web page.  There will be a bus from the North Field House parking lot to Viking Lanes right after school. 

Girls Basketball tryouts will begin on Monday, November 3rd. Any interested players need to have an up-to-date physical and officially register in SNAP prior to tryouts. Do you like to travel? Do you like to serve others? Do you have an interest in military history? If so, pick up an application to accompany our greatest generation of U.S. military veterans to Washington, D.C., in May 2026 with Vetsroll.  Applicants must be 18 by May 1. Applications can be picked up in Mr. Haab's room (1119) and are due by October 31.

Chess Club is hosting its Halloween Tournament this Friday in the Library from 3:30-5:15. See you then! The Chess Club is creating the Hononegah Chess Team to compete against other schools throughout the region! Cinematics has been voting on our favorite scary movies for the month of October. Come see our surprise top choice at this week's Friday Free Movie  3:30 in room 1434. All are welcome. Bring a friend. Free food.

Hockey Enthusiasts club, our next meeting is THIS Friday, October 24, 2025. We will be preparing Halloween treat bags for the Trunk or Treat Event on October 29th. The meeting starts at 8:00 am in room 1436.  Bring a friend.  See you all on Friday.
