Each year the Hononegah community recognizes the contributions of diverse people of the greater community of the United States. Each week the life and accomplishments of one such ADMIRABLE AMERICAN will be shared.

The Admirable American for this week is an African-American, male, research scientist, food chemist, and syndicated author. George Washington Carver was born into slavery, but after the Civil War he started school, and studied as the first black man at Iowa State University. Carver earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Botany. He taught at Iowa State before being hired by Tuskegee Institute. Although he DID NOT invent peanut butter, he DID invent over 300 uses for peanuts, and modernized agriculture in the U.S.. Globally celebrated the British Royal Society made him a member, and Carver helped Mahatma Gandhi improve agriculture in India.  


The ballots for the 2025 Homecoming Court are live! Voting ends at midnight on Friday, so vote soon!

Come dance to the beat of carnival on September 27 from 7-10 pm. at Hononegah's Homecoming Dance, Rhythms of Rio!  Online tickets are now on sale. Scan the QR code on the posters around the building or check your Class Google Classroom for more information.  All Guest forms are due in the DA office by September 19. Hononegah student tickets are $20, and guest tickets are $30. In-person ticket sales will be 9/22-9/26.


Club Announcements:

Calling all stagehands and members of International Thespian Society! Stagehands Club and I.T.S. will be having a joint meeting today after school at 3:30pm in the choir room. If you have any questions or want more information about the club, please contact Mr. Mohler (smohle@hononegah.org) or the Club President, Nicholas Archer. We hope to see you there! 

Cinematics Club is celebrating this Friday's Free Movie with an 80's cult classic. We'll be watching Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in Heathers. Bring a friend and wear your red bow. If you've never seen it, you should. All are welcome. Free food for all. Parent permission will be assessed at the meeting.
