Hononegah Community High School District #207 Recognizes the Hononegah Math Team

Congratulations on another successful season for the Hononegah Math team.  The students took 2nd place in the Huntley Invitational in November, 1st place in the Grant High School Invitational in December, and for the 12th consecutive year they took first in the NIATM Invitational held at Rockford University in January.

On Saturday, January 30th our Math Team competed in our 13th annual Hononegah Invitational.  This event has grown from 4 schools in 2004 to 13 schools - some coming from McHenry and Lake Counties.  This year Hononegah placed 2nd in the competition.  Additionally students took first place in the team divisions of Algebra II and Jr-Sr Two Person Competition.

The math team competed in the ICTM Regional Competition on Saturday, February 27th and took 2nd place.  Highlights include sophomores who earned all four of the top medals awarded in Geometry, juniors who earned the three top medals, a senior who earned first place in Pre-Calculus and a freshman who placed 3rd in Algebra 1.  Additional accomplishments include a first place finish for the Calculator team.  Due to these results 15 students will advance to the State finals held at the University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign campus on Saturday, May 7th
