Food & Nutrition

Important news regarding Breakfast and Lunch for the 2022-2023 school year.

Federal child nutrition waivers that would extend free school meals for all students for the 2022-2023 were not included in an omnibus spending package advancing through Congress. We have not had final confirmation from the USDA or ISBE at this time.

What does this mean for school meal cost for families? If the waivers are not approved, meals will no longer be free for all students. We will go back to accepting free and reduced meal applications based on household income to qualify students for free or reduced price meals.  Updates regarding school meal prices will be posted on this Food & Nutrition page.  If you have any questions please email Maria Small, Director of Food Services at [email protected] .

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the nationwide supply chain. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverages on our menu may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The USDA along with The Illinois School Board of Education has approved universal free meals for ALL students to continue through
 the 2021-2022 school year.
(Student Prices would have been $2.25 for breakfast and $3.15 for lunch)

The Hononegah Community High School District per state guidelines utilizes the free/reduced meal application to determine if your student would qualify for fee waivers. Free/reduced meal applications are in Skyward Family Access now.
**Please note a new application MUST be completed each school year and for each school district. Hononegah Community High School #207 is it's own District and applications cannot be shared between districts.
**You only need to complete an application for the 2021-2022 school year if you feel you would qualify for fee waivers.  You do not need to complete one for free meals.

Directions for accessing the application:
2021-2022 Meal Applications are available  ELECTRONICALLY on your Family Access Page under the Food Service Tab. Please toggle to one student not all students and then click the blue "applications" button found at the top center of the page.  Then click "add application" and follow instructions.
