Students participating in an Independent Study Program take part in an in-depth, individualized project for academic credit. Independent Study may be pursued either in a course not offered in the curriculum at Hononegah High School or as an extension of an existing course. Idependent Study may not be taken as a substitute for work previously failed or as a replacement for an existing course. The student works independently, but is directly responsible to a teacher for assistance and guidance. The teacher and student meet on a weekly basis. A maximum of one independent study contract will be permitted per semester. Students will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Credit for the course may be used to fulfill graduation requirements, but will not count toward the student's GPA. The final product of the independent study must include a visual, written, and oral component presented to an extended audience. Students interested in participating in an Independent Study project should contact their Career and Academic Advisor for a contract and for more information.
